Reading with Alex Gilvarry, Amelia Gray, Joseph Salvatore, and Suzzy Roche to support Behind the Book, an amazing organization whose mission is to motivate young people to become engaged readers by connecting them to contemporary writers and illustrators. Behind the Book brings authors and their books into individual classrooms to build literacy skills, and create a community of life-long readers and writers. Their programs take place in NYC’s underserved public schools, are part of the class curricula and meet the Common Core Standards. Behind the Book believes that every student deserves the freedom that comes from the ability to read and think independently. Check them out! Behind the Book
Please come out on Thursday, March 8th, to hear some wonderful work and support a great cause.

I’ll be reading with Chiara Barzini and Catherine Lacey this Thursday, Jan. 12th, at Pacific Standard in Brooklyn. 7 PM. Just finished reading Chiara’s excellent debut SISTER STOP BREATHING. I began it on the subway last night and finished it this morning. I highly recommend this talented new voice.
